Excell Academy is a Charter School located in Brooklyn Park, MN. We are entering our 16th year and are currently serving 400 students ranging from PreK-8th grade. Excell Academy takes great pride in developing a strong sense of community in our school. We work very hard to create a comfortable environment for students and staff alike. Position title: Literacy Tutor and Math Tutor – Minnesota Reading Corps and Minnesota Math Corps
Would you love to help children grow their reading or math skills and succeed in school? If your answer is yes, you can be trained to serve as a tutor with Minnesota Reading Corps or Minnesota Math Corps at Excell Academy for Higher Learning. Whether you want to explore a career in education, re-enter the workforce, or give back to your community, you can be a child’s hero as a tutor. Last year, Minnesota Reading Corps and Minnesota Math Corps provided direct services to more than 35,000 children in more than 900 sites across the state.
As a Literacy Tutor, you’ll use research-proven strategies to help students become proficient, confident readers. Positions available include: PreK, Kindergarten Focus, andElementary (K-3) Literacy Tutors. As a Math Tutor, you’ll help struggling 4th-8th grade students gain the core math skills they need to prepare for high school graduation and college enrollment. There are openings for part-time and full-time tutors, and tutors typically serve most of their hours during the regular school day.
Tutors come from many backgrounds and include recent high school and college grads, career changers, stay-at-home parents, and retirees. With extensive training, support from onsite coaches, and evidence-based strategies, tutors are well-equipped to change lives. Tutors may earn a living allowance, education award, and federal student loan forbearance, and will have the chance to make a real difference in the life of a child.
